Germans have such an interesting sensibility about things. They value efficiency of concept, they are stubborn to a fault, and they have an identifiable national style. Porsche has been building rear engine cars for over 75 years - only a German company would insist on putting engines in the wrong place for so long. German Goo Girls likewise captures so much of the national identity. John Thompson, the creative mind behind the video series, has honed the video style of GGG slowly and carefully, in the same way that a 60’s Porsche isn’t wildly different looking from the Porsches roaming the roads today. You recognize a scene from one of these videos in mere seconds.
The visual style is harsh with contrasting light blasting from the camera itself, and Spartan sets don’t try to hide that filming takes place on a studio stage. Everything is about contrast: Ornate furniture resting on plain, black studio floors. Velvet curtains forming temporary walls and strident, multi-colored studio lights acting as a virtual ceiling. The models are all dolled up but usually devoid of panties; they gyrate in front of the cameras to house techno mixes and often warm up with their choice sex toy. Then a naked guy wearing a hockey mask comes out.
If Larry Flynt can inspire assassins, then this stuff could probably inspire America to go to war with Germany again. The sex is charged with jack rabbit intensity. It isn’t clear if the girls are gasping for air, or if they can’t survive when cocks aren’t filling their orifices. The camera slides through the action focusing on body parts and activity as though it is an integral part of the action itself. One moment you are looking down upon the girl being assaulted by members from all angles, and then next you are paying her anus a visit from between a man’s legs. It is fascinating, vulgar and addictive. Often makeup is overdone more for durability than sexuality. I might be convinced this was a German documentary about underground breeding labs if it weren’t for the attention to costume. Well, and perhaps the fact that most of the semen ends up on the model’s face.
Throughout Thompson’s various video series, he has covered nearly every fetish, and GGG includes most of them with the exceptions of pissing (usually) and bondage related fetishes. The scenes predictably descend into a mix of Bukkake and orgy if enough women are available. The men frequently wear some form of mask making them appear to be godless fucking machines designed to stretch and fill the crotch maws of the female stars. It is a pornographic experience quite unique to Thompson. The content is both sexual and alien.
I happily applaud their decision to rid the site of Digital Rights Management that made the videos unusable after you ended your membership. They had remained some of the last proponents of DRM. Add the fact that almost all of their videos can be streamed online with Flash, that they’ve improved their search engine and have finally begun adding high resolution photos - all of that makes Jack a happy boy. It is annoying that the site doesn’t use multiple pages, so if you hit the back button you end up at the login page, but that is a small complaint.
You simply won’t find GGG content on the shelf of your local video store – more than likely you won’t have seen anything that really has the vibe that permeates the series. It is hard to find unique porn that is both inspired and enduring. The models may come and go, the sets may change and evolve, but Thompson’s vision remains. The visceral, infectious nature of the activities on the screen aside; it is undeniably efficient, stubborn and darkly stylish. It is, I must conclude, what German’s would call sex.
