Jim Powers has a tendency to "borrow" ideas from mainstream movies. It's a porno tradition as old as the industry itself. But there are certain characteristics that only exist in porn valley, which is where many of the inside jokes of this feature come in. It's a wonderful mix of cheesy adult biz hilarity with a "Weekend at Bernie's" storyline. Though you may find it campy at times, that's essentially the point. Personally, I think it is amazing that they were able to make Briana Banks look as dead as she does. I always knew that she was catatonic, but this is ridiculous.

Given that "Boogie Nights" came out in 1997 and this movie was shot in 2000, it's patently obvious who is stamped with unoriginality. Come on, Hersch! It's one thing to make reference to the greatest portrayal of porn in Hollywood cinema, but it's something completely different to blatantly rip it off. Why don't you just call yourself Dirk Diggler and be done with it? I place all the blame squarely on Jim. He tends to gloss over details like this in order to expedite the shooting. Banking on the fact that no one will remember once Dolly Golden unleashes her tits, Jim forges ahead to the easier stuff, like anal and DP.

I always love to see realism in porn. For better or worse, that's what you get in this scene. It's an unbelievably accurate portrayal of what it's like to deal with porn whores.
